We speak teen

About

Many parents come to us because they are worried about their teen, and they aren’t sure exactly how to help. They know a lot is going on inside that adolescent brain. But as to specifics, they feel like they are missing it. Their teen just doesn’t want to talk about what’s going on.

That’s where we come in.

Our San Diego therapists have extensive experience working one-on-one counseling teenagers, many with backgrounds in foster care agencies, charter schools, and churches.

We use something called “motivational interviewing” to help your teenager identify his or her personal goals for therapy, so that he or she becomes an invested and willing participant in each session.

The Teen Counseling Center of San Diego is proud to be a part of Integrity Counseling Group, one of San Diego’s leading Christian therapy practice.

Meet our therapists.

Cory Anderson LMFT Teen Counseling Center of San Diego

Cory Anderson, LMFT #53391

I’m the founder of the Teen Counseling Center and its parent company, Integrity Counseling Group. I began my career working with high-risk teens at a foster care agency in San Diego. Many of my clients struggled with addictions, childhood trauma and serious psychiatric issues.

I have a natural ability to get even the most resistant teens to open up. My clients experience significant growth as they engage with my practical, solution-focused philosophy of empowering them to make healthy choices.

Megan Weller LMFT Teen Counseling Center

Megan Weller, LMFT #105064

I have a passion for teens because of their willingness to grow and learn in this crucial stage of emotional development. Teenagers are eager to be heard, known, and understood. They are capable of amazing insights and growth as they begin to feel they are important and valuable in this world. I love getting to observe the growth that their flexibility can bring into therapy.

I served as a youth leader for various church youth events. I have many years of experience as a therapist, and I’ve worked with teens from a diversity of backgrounds. In addition, I work with foster youth living in a group home setting.

Tiffany Mead, AMFT #123406

I love working with teens because they often play “hard to get.” They don’t trust easily, but when they do it’s magical and so sacred. I appreciate the challenge they give me not only as a therapist, but also as a Christ follower who graciously experiences God’s compassion every day. It’s a privilege  offering even a glimpse of that same compassion and love to my clients. When working with teens, I prioritize ensuring they feel seen, heard, and validated, while also modeling healthy boundaries for them.

Prior to my time at The Teen Counseling Center of San Diego and Integrity Counseling Group, I had a lot of experience volunteering with children at my church and with students in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Now I bring this experience to my work with teens, especially when they are hurting.

Steven Karras, AMFT #127313

I love working with teenagers because of their curiosity! Curiosity can come with uncertainty, which often shows up in questions of identity. Teens are  asking themselves the same question that each of us has wrestled with: "Who am I?" It’s a joy to help teens begin to view themselves and their experiences from a lens of compassion, and recognize they are sacred, valuable, and worthy of love just as they are.

I have seven years of experience working with a diverse group of teenagers in youth ministry and I bring that experience to my counseling. I’ve learned how important it is to earn their trust through authenticity, so we can work collaboratively to identify their strengths and their own goals for therapy. They are, like each of us, built so well, and I work hard to help them see the best in themselves.

Your teen’s bright future begins now.

Give your teen the skills and insight to make the most of life.
